CHICAGO – September 2, 2009 – Paul Brourman, President and Chief Creative Officer of Sponge advertising, announced today the appointment of Darcie Scianna as Account Director. In this position, Scianna will be responsible for leading all account management activities and functions in support of the agency’s AutoZone account (auto-supply retail), for whom Sponge has served as agency-of-record since the summer of 2008. Scianna will also assume responsibilities for other agency client partner accounts and help support the agency’s on-going business development efforts.
“We’re thrilled to have Darcie on our team,” said Brourman. “Our agency has grown rapidly in a short period of time and Darcie brings the depth of retail experience and level-headed thinking needed for our clients’ fast-changing environment. Having worked with Darcie in ‘a previous life,’ I know first-hand of her skills and ability to handle multiple responsibilities without a flinch.”
Prior to joining Sponge, Scianna served as Account Supervisor at the Chicago Creative Partnership. She also spent three years at Young and Rubicam, Chicago, working closely on the Sears account. Other agency experience includes JWT, DDB and Matrix Marketing Group – all in Chicago. Scianna’s client brand experience includes Bob Evans Farms, Sears, The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago, Johnson & Johnson (Aveeno), JCPenney, The Illinois Bureau of Tourism and First American Bank.
When asked about joining Sponge, Darcie replied, “It’s really about the chance to make a contribution to the success of our AutoZone account relationship and to grow personally as part of a thriving, dynamic, fast-paced, entrepreneurial team. I’m also excited to once more team up with Paul Brourman, with whom, together, we achieved great things at DDB Chicago, notably on the JCPenney account.”
Scianna is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and holds a B.A. degree in Telecommunications.
